Very cool but a little confusing

I bought this kite for my girlfriend's birthday and she was so excited!! When we tried to put it together, we ended up with one extra piece that doesn't seem to fit? Every time we've tried to use it so far there's been a disappointing lack of wind so it's hard to tell if we messed it up somehow.

Mostly what I expected

Bought Kite plus 500 ft 50# line on winder. Swivel clip on line was wedged between winder cylinder and handle end. It was so stuck I used pliers trying to free it, and the clip wire broke. Fortunately, I had plenty of heavy swivel clips and could replace.

Kite is well made. I used to build my own 2-stick and 3-stick kites, and flew hundreds, if not thousands of hours. I missed the note on this kite's instruction sheet about making sure rods are all the way to the bottom tips. I just assumed the rods went the entire length of leading edges. So when I tried flying it in fairly heavy winds, it kept turning to my right and eventually diving to the ground. Apparently the rods were out of place/balance enough to cause the turns. I will fly again when I have enough wind and the time. Will update review then.

Flys high

I live at the beach so this kite jumps out of my hands to go up! Easy to go and is made of sturdy materials. Too bad it was made in China!
